About Us
My name is Louise and I come from a family of artists and I was introduced to the world of Aboriginal art from a young age. The eldest of 6 children to a Warlpiri dad and Luritja and irish mother, we were all gifted a painting, a handcrafted coolamon, bush medicine and ininti beads threaded on hair string from our warlpiri elders when we were born. These artworks hold stories passed down through lineages describing dreamings relating to different stories and totems. Intertwining art, storytelling, culture and our version of a baby shower!
Upon moving to Sydney at 18, one of my first jobs was in an Aboriginal fine art gallery in the city. I loved it, most of the artists were central desert artists that I recognised or knew or had met so it really helped with the change of scenery from the bush. I also got to see customers reactions and appreciation for the art.
Eventually I went on work in the performing arts as a producer and really found my own appreciation for the creative process.
With connections back home, my mum, sister and I held market stalls selling Aboriginal art and jewellery.
Artists in Central Australia are always approaching us looking to promote their works, we have great relationships with them all and 99% of them are Women, which we love!
Tali Creatives acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we conduct our work on. We pay our respect to Elders, past, present and emerging and are committed to honouring First Nations Peoples' deep cultural and spiritual relationship with their country.
